BASICS:
- Trolls and humans grew up on Earth together. Their societies have never been distinct or different from one another.
- Humans are the majority of Earth's population; trolls are not a minority. There are a lot of them but there are just way more humans.
- Trolls are made of tougher stuff than humans and are generally more resistant to assassination attempts and the like, so they've gotten in on the political scene more than humans have.
- Meaning! The caste system has been in place for as long as history is recorded. Human-- and even troll-- attempts to change this have all been in vain as traditionalists have staged assassinations etc.
- Trolls in general are incredibly violent, blunt and forceful and so their behaviors have affected humans and society as a whole due to their prominence.
HOW IS TROLL BABBY BRONED:
- They are born by a mother grub who is aided by jadebloods.
- Their growing is as canon.
- No lusus. Instead, they are sent to a "troll house" in the city closest to their mother grub's hive.
- The troll houses are basically orphanages: couples can adopt a child (which is rare) or the kid can just grow up and move out on their own.
- They are kicked out when they become 16 years old, and are expected to find a job and a place to live before that time.
- PS: Buckets are still a thing!
POLITICS:
- There is an ultimate ruler assigned by blood color; the Empress or Emperor will then rule all of Earth for as long as it takes for another ruler to be born and come of age, or until they die.
- Officials are appointed by vote, but in the end the Empress has final say on just about everything of any real political importance.
- The Empress seems to be interested in keeping her citizens healthy and happy. Her ultimate goal is achieving a level of space travel where meeting other species is viable, something which she does not hide.
BLOOD:
- Blood color caste system: Humans, dark red, brown, yellow, lime, olive, jade, teal, blue, navy, indigo, purple, tyrian. Mutant blood falls off of the system entirely.
- The lower castes have some expected jobs! These jobs are not something they HAVE to do, but it's a very heavy stereotype. These jobs are things that are considered "dirty": sewage and waste, merchants, butchers, leatherworking, morticians.
- Similarly the higher castes are expected to go on to do things that are incredibly useful to society. These things are jobs like engineering, farming of any sort, politics, etc.
LAW ENFORCEMENT:
- The Condesce is very interested in law enforcement and so it is given a lot of power! Because of this, the law is a force to be reckoned with and something to be feared.
- Legilacerators are a class that is not often handed out; they are rare, and hold all of the power and responsibility they do in canon! Meaning they are bounty hunters/detectives/lawyers.
- Regular cops, lawyers and the like are all jobs as they are in real life. However the main difference here is that a regular cop will cover most everything rather than bringing in, say, this Earth's equiv of the FBI for certain things.
- That said, information is not loosely spilled: you have to earn trust and build up a reputation before you are given cases that are worth more, etc.
- The death penalty is given out for things other than murder etc; there is no way to get the government back for a false conviction.
- The law is regarded as harsh for this reason.
ORGANIZED CRIME:
- It's pretty much impossible to get away with a major crime if you don't have a system/people to grab your back. And thus organized crime was born.
- Organized crime is regarded as a Robin Hood type figure a lot of the time: they are generous to the lower, poorer castes and often do not discriminate.
- They basically do the same shit as in real life: they are a business that deals in illegal goods/operations.
- This means drugs, rackets, loans, prostitution, human/troll trafficking... and so on.
- I'll write up info posts on what kind of jobs there are specifically to do in the mafia later on.
