3RD YEAR GRYFFINDOR
WAND: Unicorn hair, chestnut, 12 inches, supple.
HISTORY:
- Terezi grows up secluded from other trolls, in a tree rather than underground. Her lusus is an unhatched dragon; this particular species of dragon takes years to hatch, and the eggs are very big. It's a struggle to get it around at first, but Terezi is built strong.
- She spends her early life caring for the egg. She carries it outside during the day and puts it in a bonfire at night.
- Since caring for the egg is a full-time job, she doesn't make many friends! The few she has-- people she's met online-- are very good friends. She spends whatever free time she has reading law books and talking to them.
- The egg requires more and more heat the closer to hatching it gets, so her fires get bigger and bigger. She's very good with fire after so long-- she knows how not to get scorched and how not to burn down all of Alternia.
- While this goes on, her lusus communes with her within her dreams. Her lusus learns about the outside world from Terezi and Terezi learns her lusus will be born blind.
- When she is nine years old the egg is about ready to hatch. She's supposed to greet it with an extremely big fire, and on the date her lusus is due to hatch, she starts up the biggest fire she's had so far. It's a very exciting occasion! Terezi is extremely excited to meet her lusus finally after so many years of caring for her.
- But in her excitement she fucks up: she leaves explosive material too close to the fire. Wise with fire as she may be, she's also nine years old. A spark jumps as the egg begins to hatch, and aforementioned vague material explodes.
- It leaves her with severe burns and her eyes totally seared. Her horse-sized lusus hatches and cares for Terezi's injuries; the burns heal and leave scars, but her eyes are beyond repair.
- Because her dragonmama is not a muggle dragon, she can teach her things. The first thing she does is comfort her for her lost sense and the second thing she does is reassure her that not all is lost. Over the course of a long, difficult and isolated year-- her friends hear nothing from her over this time-- she learns to perceive the world without vision. It taps into both her psychic ability and her magical ability. Had she been a muggle troll, she'd been able to do it as well. But the magic running through her teal blood makes it much easier.
- As soon as she is able to, she contacts her friends again.
- Now ten years old and able to taste colors very distinctly, Terezi's magic starts to show itself in spades. It's the only thing that stops her from being culled.
- She attends an Alternian school for magic-users and transfers to Hogwarts on the recommendation of a professor. She's a very talented Seer with ambitions to become an Auror, after all...!
- While she is at school, her lusus is killed by a group of adult trolls. Terezi is heartbroken.
- She is sorted on her very special request to the hat: she wants to be with her friends, and that loyalty as well as the bravery it took to face blindness places her in Gryffindor, despite Ravenclaw and Slytherin being very good fits as well.
- She plans on using her talents in Seeing to assist in her pursuit of justice.
