Character: Terezi Pyrope
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: A week into their traveling to the new session
Age: 13
Gender: female

History:
Terezi's early childhood isn't given much mention, but her more recent years are expanded on quite a bit.

To start with, her lusus-- caretaker who is also an animal, basically-- is absent. She lays in wait, a massive dragon, on a tipping doomsday scale in an unhatched egg. As a result of this, she doesn't grow up in a hive surrounded by other trolls like most of her friends do, and instead in a tree. She isn't lonely and amuses herself easily.

Probably in part due to her looking for new ways to amuse herself, she plays a game with her friends called FLARP. It is a kind of live action roleplaying with enemies and treasure abound. She spends a lot of time with her best friend Vriska Serket as part of this game; they are teammates in it, and together they go by Team Scourge, or the Scourge Sisters. They work together to defeat bad guys-- they are just a few among the people Vriska feeds to her gigantic spider lusus.

Terezi spends her time talking these people down and manipulating them with words alone, which is remarkable on its own but made even more so by the fact that trolls often have psychic abilities that allow them to basically brainwash others! Vriska is one such person.

It isn't stated exactly when it happens, but at some point Vriska and Tavros-- another one of their friends they FLARP with-- are playing a session out together and Tavros tries to get out of a situation that is too hard for him. Vriska is a murderous, unevenly tempered troll, and she doesn't hesitate in using her psychic powers to get him to literally jump off of a cliff. He loses use of his legs.

Terezi and Tavros are implied to be close, so the accident rings a really rotten note with her. She and Aradia, another good friend, cut ties with Vriska. Terezi tells Aradia not to meddle with Vriska because she doesn't know how to handle her. But she does not heed Terezi's warning and summons the souls of the people Vriska has killed over the years to terrorize her, using her own psychic abilities. This ends in Vriska killing Aradia indirectly, getting her then-boyfriend to blast her with psychic energy after consuming what is essentially a drug that enhances abilities.

In reply to Aradia's death, Terezi throws down all pretence of not dealing with her ever again and tricks her into looking into a valuable magical object, a cue ball. She tells the object's previous owner about her having the artifact and he blows it up in her face! This destroys one of her eyes and one of her arms. Immediately after that she retaliates by performing what canon calls a 'double psychic reacharound'. She manipulates Tavros' ability to commune with animals, and contacts Terezi's unhatched lusus. She through him gets her dragon lusus to contact Terezi psychically and make her leave her house during the day, a notoriously dangerous time.

The danger comes from the bright, bright sun. Looking directly into it is said to blind whoever does it, and Terezi proves the saying right! Terezi and Vriska form a truce quickly, and put a stop to what would likely become an unending chain of revenge.

In the time that passes after that, Terezi's lusus communicates with her-- awoken by Vriska-- and shows her how to perceive the world without vision. She learns to taste colors and smell shapes; a psychic level up on regular synesthesia. And after her initial fear, as she becomes more and more used to a world where she can't see, Terezi finds that she loves being blind.

When she is actually formally introduced, Terezi is recruiting people to take part in her team for a game called SGRUB. She quickly relinquishes position of team leader to Karkat, a friend of hers. A lot of their actually getting into the game and playing is sped through, so we can't be sure of the exact details of many things. There are a lot of specifics as to how SGRUB is played, and that would take up another few hundred words so I'm just going to skip that and instead link to a handy-dandy wiki.

Terezi enters her medium and then her land presumably without a hitch. She has communication with an exile, and she tells her to go on a mission to exile the archagent Jack Noir. She and Vriska do this at some point. Here comes toe handwaving: after this, they end up very nearly winning the game. It's a close close match, and just as they are going to get their prize at the end... a portal opens up. This is called the scratch, and it allows another session in a separate universe to bleed into theirs.

This other session's Jack Noir comes in and proceeds to fuck everything up. They are unable to reap the rewards and instead end up hiding on a meteor, far away! On this meteor, she receives an extremely large amount of money. She gets her hacker friend, Sollux, to trace the money's origins. And that's how they find the humans: Dave, John, Rose and Jade.

There is a lot of timeline fuckery that goes on with the trolls going through their timeline and talking to the kids. Terezi speaks with Rose, scares the living daylights out of John, and strikes up an odd friendship with Dave. Her initial motivation for supporting Dave through the game is out of curiosity and the want for amusement-- she is bored, hiding away, and he is there and he is entertaining. But her affection for him grows and she comes to genuinely care for him-- enough that the death of one of his alternate selves moves her to flee the room in tears.

This is significant because soon after she leaves the room and broods, the dead body of Tavros happens upon her. Her reaction isn't to cry at the death of a good friend she's known for a long time, but to orchestrate a playful investigation of his and other people's deaths in desire to bring the culprit to justice. She presumes that Vriska is the one who killed Tavros (which is correct), Feferi and Kanaya (which is not correct).

She talks to Sollux, who has just gone blind, and smells the undead Kanaya approaching. She passes out somehow and wakes up with bite marks on her neck and a realization that she has to find Vriska and stop her: as a Seer of Mind, she forsees what Vriska is actually going to go do, but conveniently does not realize that she isn't the one who killed them. Vriska is set out to go confront Jack Noir on her own-- she has a chance of succeeding, but the more likely outcome is that she'll end up leading Jack back to the meteor, where everyone will die.

Meanwhile, Gamzee, one of the previously thought to be more peaceable trolls has gone off on a murderous rampage. He further manipulates Terezi's willingness to believe that Vriska is the one behind all of the death, and brazenly Terezi goes forth to confront Vriska. She flips a coin in one of her signature movements and Vriska uses her abilities to throw the flip-- she wins, and starts to set off to find Jack. But Terezi stabs her in the back-- right through the chest-- and she dies.

Karkat comes to the scene of the death and the two of them hug.

After that, Gamzee and the rest of the trolls still alive have a confrontation: Karkat calms Gamzee down from his murderous rampage, and as stuff finally comes down to the wire for the kids, the Green Sun is created. The scratch is pulled off. Jack finds them and Sollux flings the meteor far away from him with his psychic powers; he gives chase. They meet Rose and Dave.

A few weeks into their travel to a new session of the game, Terezi shows up here.

Personality:
Terezi is a troll. That's the first thing about her anyone will notice, and to understand her you have to also understand troll society to some degree. It's all built up on a caste system, something sorted by the color of one's blood. And the social order is kept by brutal violence. The threat of death is near-constant, especially as young trolls mature into adults.

Terezi's blood color is teal, something in the very middle of it all. And she doesn't seem to give a damn about the caste. She does not discriminate against lowbloods and she does not revere or particularly fear the highbloods. This isn't completely unusual among her group of friends, but in society it is very. People of her status are supposed to be fearful and respectful of their superiors and cruel to those beneath them.

It's very telling that Terezi is neither of these things: it speaks as to her affinity with justice and equality as well as to her rather sheltered upbringing.

She was brought up by herself with no one to care for her. She lived in a tree all alone. With no one to instill in her mind that anyone below teal is bad, anyone higher is good, she simply never came to understand the meaning of blood color. That isn't to say she's ignorant to it; she's read books about it. It just holds no meaning for her because she was never taught.

However despite her being unaware of these certain social nuances, she manages to be very socially fluent. She has no trouble socializing and making nice. On the surface, she is pleasant. It isn't necessarily a disguise-- she really is a civil person. But a lot of the time she's just being manipulative; she is manipulative because she wants amusement and fun. So that is to say she isn't a person filled with malice-- she is just one who likes to play. Her interactions with other people can be boiled down to her just looking for some fun.

So while her playing can be dangerous and even fatal to the other party, she doesn't act with hate.

Most of the time.

It's very difficult to get on Terezi's bad side, and harder to stay there. She can set aside her bad feelings and get along with someone like Vriska, who killed and paralyzed two good friends of hers and also blinded her. But spite is not beyond her, and she's prone to doing things in a rush of bad emotion. She killed Vriska in a fit of fear and anger. And revenge is the first thing she thinks of when Vriska kills Aradia.

Both of these things can be tied to her strong feelings regarding justice and the law: Vriska deserved to pay for what she did, and so Terezi did what she could to make it so. But she regrets killing Vriska afterwards, showing that despite her obsession and dislike, manipulation and deceit, deep down she cares about certain people.

She's a surprisingly soft person underneath her using people for fun and quirkiness. She doesn't like to kill and she hates to see her friends be hurt. She grows deep attachment easily, and when she cares about someone she cares about them a lot. Terezi is a flawed person with vulnerabilities, but she's very resilient as well. When she goes blind, she doesn't lose herself like some people might. She doesn't seem to linger on the loss of her sight as a bad thing-- instead focusing on the good. So she's optimistic. She likes bright colors and pretty things; she likes dragons and their scales.

Additionally, she has a very good sense of humor. She finds most things funny or amusing.
Fears:
- Sensory deprivation. Nothing would mess her up more than losing even one of her remaining senses-- she'd be able to cope eventually, but it'd be incredibly difficult.

- Inevitability. She has a fear of being unable to change things; fate is a terrifying concept to her for this reason. This ties in with her fear of powerlessness. Being unable to affect things no matter how hard she tries is horrible to her for this reason, and she even tries to meddle in the affairs of the kids to this purpose. She also has foresight, so this is even more torturous.

- The death of people she cares about. This is for the usual reasons. She never wants to see a friend hurt or killed, and she wants to be able to visit and talk with those same people. So them dying and thus disappearing forever is not something she wants.

- Killing someone she cares about. As a troll, she might not have trouble killing someone she doesn't give a damn about. It's bred into her, after all. But she shows clear remorse after killing Vriska, even though letting her live would have lead into something much worse.

- Her own death. As a Seer, she's privy to a lot of knowledge others might not be aware of. And her and her friends' travels through paradox space leads to her encountering dream bubbles, a part of space where the dead live through memories. For this reason, dying is not quite as big a mystery as it once was. But the thought of being caught in the past forever, doing the same things over and over again for the rest of eternity... that is truly terrifying.

- The above leads into her fear of repetition. Extended repetition would drive her crazy. This is because Terezi hates boredom. She's very easy to entertain, but she hates idle boredom. A boredom that eats into her totally and utterly is for this reason scary, and she will do whatever she can to avoid it.

- Being totally and utterly alone. Terezi is a person who grew up alone and later surrounded herself with people-- she never wants to return to that part of her childhood. She's ok with being alone for extended periods but if she were to go around someplace with absolutely no life... that would unnerve her.

Weaknesses:
- Terezi is blind. Her other senses help, but there are subtle nuances that she might not be able to pick up on!

- She's perfectly mortal and can die just as anyone else can.

- She isn't arrogant, but she isn't humble either. She will brazenly go ahead with things that might not be the best decision. This means she is not thoughtless, but rather sometimes acts in the heat of a moment.

- She cares easily. It isn't hard to get Terezi to like you and even care about you. All you have to do is be funny or otherwise interesting!

- She tires easily. Her feelings are very real while they happen, but they are often shortlived. For this reason she hurts people without meaning to. It's one of her bigger flaws.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
- She is physically fit. She's strong and flexible and quick on her feet. She knows how to fight, and her strife specibus is canekind.

- As a troll, she's made of tougher stuff than even the strongest of humans. Thicker skin, sharper nails, and so on. Troll society is a rainbow of murder and untimely death, and the simple fact that Terezi has survived so long while handicapped (something that is sure to get you culled) speaks volumes about how strong she is.

- Terezi is a master manipulator. She has a way with words and body language and people that allows her to bend them however she wishes. This is further enhanced as a Seer of Mind, but that is not mundane at all!

Sensitivity/Magical Ability: As a Seer of Mind, Terezi can perceive alternate timelines. In layman's terms, she can see the future (very vaguely). She will usually see it as a set of choices: do this and you'll live, do this and you'll die. It's not very well explained in canon and it doesn't seem she can tap into the powers whenever she wants.

And as a troll, Terezi has some psychic powers. She can sense the world using every sense except for sight, in a way that is reminiscent of synesthesia. She is also unaffected by mind reading and mind control.

Supply List: All of these are collected in her sylladex:
- A set of chalk
- A scalemate
- Her cane, which doubles as her weapon
